Halo Wars 2 has now gone gold, and discs are ready to be pressed.
Dan Ayoub, the studio head at 343 Industries, announced the milestone in a tweet, while also congratulating the development team on their hard work up to this point. Even though the way that games are made these days means that going gold is becoming less significant (since day-one patches are usually worked on until the day of release), it is still an important accomplishment that solidifies the impending release of a game.

The game will also have another beta before its release, on both Xbox One and PC, starting today and lasting until the end of Monday, January 30. This is an open beta, meaning everyone will have access to it. The only playable mode in the beta is Blitz, which has elements of card games as well as the expected RTS elements. All of the commanders that will be available at the game’s release will be playable in the beta, but only one map will be included.
Halo Wars 2 will release on February 21, 2017 for both Xbox One and PC. If you bought the Ultimate Edition, however, you will get access to the game four days earlier, on February 17.
