Flynn’s answer was a short and sweet, “Nope.” When asked to elaborate on the possibility of story or multiplayer DLC, paid or otherwise, Flynn stated, “We’ll talk more about that later.”
The Mass Effect franchise has had a rough history with season passes and DLC. EA has received a lot of negative criticism over locking several squad members in Mass Effect 2 and 3 behind DLC paywalls. Furthermore, Mass Effect 3’s multiplayer features lockboxes that can be bought using real money, a concept that divides playerbases merely by existing. Some gamers have gone so far as to accuse EA of intentionally removing on-disc content for the express purpose of selling it as DLC to make more money. However, some of the Mass Effect franchise’s best moments are found in its various DLC packs, including the terrifying Overlord and the light-hearted Citadel DLC missions.
Mass Effect: Andromeda is not the only EA game to drop the season pass. Titanfall 2 also does not have a season pass but provides gamers with free multiplayer DLC.
