Pokemon trainers might receive a new version of the Pokemon GO Plus in the near future.
The president of The Pokemon Company Tsunekazu Ishihara recently discussed the possibility in an interview with Nikkei Asian Review. Ishihara states that The Pokemon Company is currently considering where to go next with Pokemon GO Plus.
“We intended to make a game for people to play outdoors, instead of at home,” says Ishihara. “The potential that players could become too involved in playing the game [that they might walk into danger] was already an issue at an early stage. To avoid the danger, we also released ‘Pokemon Go Plus,’ the smartphone-linked wearable device, so that ‘Pokemon Go’ players do not have to always be looking down at their smartphone screens. Together with Nintendo, we are thinking of developing a new device that can be played more safely.”
The original Pokemon GO Plus was intended to let trainers capture Pokemon and visit PokeStops without constantly checking their smartphones. Sadly, the device was sold in low quantities and many were grabbed by scalpers and sold for ridiculously high prices on sites such as eBay.
