No new Deus Ex game is planned for the forseeable future
Just like Adam Jensen, Deus Ex fans are receiving something they never asked for. Instead of gaining super-charged prosthetic limbs, fans will instead be given a hiatus to the franchise.According to reports by sites such as Eurogamer and Gamespot, Square Enix is placing Deus Ex on the back-burner in favor of other games. These games include the recently announced Avengers game and the possibly-leaked new Tomb Raider game. Square Enix's decision to place the franchise on hiatus is purportedly due to Mankind Divided's less-than stellar sales and reception, especially when compared to Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

The recent Deus Ex: Mankind Divided left several questions unanswered in what can only be described as a shameless sequel-beg. Given how the game might not see a sequel for a long time, or ever, these questions might never be answered. Even though Mankind Divided’s final piece of DLC, A Criminal Past, will release February 23rd, it is set in the past, prior to the events of Mankind Divided and before Jensen discovered his experimental augments. This DLC is therefore unlikely to answer any of base game’s lingering questions. However, time will tell if this is the case.
