Last year, sources stated that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild would miss the Switch launch. Now, multiple sources close to Nintendo have told Eurogamer that Breath of the Wild may release alongside Nintendo’s latest console after all. At the end of last year, Japan changed its plans as they want the Switch to have the strongest launch lineup possible. Thus, the latest Zelda will release in Japan and North America in March. However, the game’s launch timing in Europe is unclear at the moment.

One source has told Eurogamer that Japan has always wanted Zelda to release in March, and was uncomfortable waiting until later. Another source stated that the decision to launch the game in March, regardless of Europe, was finalized at the end of last year.

Earlier this week, new artwork for Breath of the Wild released on Facebook to celebrate the New Year. The first piece of art features one of the title’s enemies, with a caption stating: “As you’ve seen in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Link will need to battle enemies called Guardians that come in a variety of sizes and shapes.” The second piece of art shows Link sitting on a cliff gazing at a sunset.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will release for the Wii U and Switch later this year.
