Fans of asymmetrical horror-themed multiplayer games will be pleased to hear that Dead by Daylight is finally being ported over to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
Starbreeze AB (whose catalog of games includes The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay/Assault on Dark Athena, Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, and Payday 2) has just announced that it has signed a retail distribution agreement with 505 Games (a company that has published games such as ABZU, Terraria, and the upcoming Indivisible) to publish Dead by Daylight on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Sadly, the distribution agreement excludes Asia and the Nordic territories. Furthermore, Starbreeze has listed the expected release date as the vague “second quarter of 2017.”
Dead by Daylight was released on PC last year to critical acclaim. Players either take the role of one of four human survivors or one supernatural killer. The survivors work as a team to outsmart and outmaneuver the killer in the hopes of escaping the level, while the killer is only tasked with the self-evident job of killing the survivors. Each killer and survivor has his or her own special skills and tactics. The game has received numerous updates that introduce new survivors, killers, and levels, including Laurie Strode, Michael Myers, and Haddonfield, IL of Halloween fame.
