According to Turn 10 Studios, Forza has successfully sold over $1 billion in retail sales. This highlights an amazing year for the series as a whole. Since December, the community has had over 14 million players worldwide across both Xbox One and Windows 10 platforms.
The team at Turn 10 started the franchise back in 2005, and it has continued with the Motorsports sub-series while Playground Games has handled development of the separate Horizon titles. With the release of Forza Horizon 3 last year, the series as a whole continues to be one of the best racing franchise for this current generation, and a gem in the Xbox line-up.
Turn 10 Studios also reports that their online community is stronger than it has ever been in the past, with over 3 million gamers joining the pool of players each month to take part in the recently released Forza Racing Championship. The Championship pits gamers from around the world against each other to compete for fame and real world prizes.
Quoted on Xbox Wire, Phil Spencer, the head of Xbox, comments on the success of the franchise by saying, “Since the beginning, Forza has combined stunning graphics, racing’s leading simulation engine, and an emphasis on fun and accessibility, With the Forza series, Turn 10 Studios has built the world’s largest racing community. We couldn’t be more proud of their success.”
Since it’s release back in September of last year, Forza Horizon 3 has sold over 2.5 million units.
