No, the Pokemon GO app has not learned how to use Attract. Niantic just started the Pokemon GO Valentine’s Day event, that’s all.
According to a post on the Pokemon GO website, starting today, trainers can participate in a special Valentine’s Day event. During the event, players will receive double the normal amount of Pokemon candy, be it from catching or transferring a Pokemon, hatching an egg, or walking with a buddy Pokemon.
Candy is not the only thing trainers will receive more of during this event. Pink Pokemon, such as Clefable and Chansey, will spawn more frequently in the wild, and eggs are more likely to hatch Cleffa, Igglybuff, and Smoochum. Furthermore, Lure Modules will last six hours during the event, instead of the usual 30 minutes.
While the Valentine’s Day event might bring some players back to Pokemon GO (especially for the chance to catch a rare Chansey), it is probably not the update many were hoping for. Datamines of previous app versions show that data for Gen. 2 Pokemon, new moves, and more trainer cosmetics has been buried in these updates. However, nothing has come of this hidden data save for baby Pokemon and a Pikachu/Raichu with a Santa hat.
The Pokemon GO Valentine’s Day event is scheduled to run from now to February 15th.
