With Mass Effect Andromeda on its way on March 21st, we’ve been granted a pretty in-depth look at the combat of the game in the form of a video.
“Welcome to the Mass Effect: Andromeda gameplay series. In this video, learn all about combat. Battle with weaponry from an alien galaxy, outmaneuver enemies with your jump-jet, and unlock the power of Biotics.”
Andromeda involves going off in search of a new home for humanity, and knowing humans, they will find fights wherever they go. From the video, it looks like the combat of Mass Effect is getting a major upgrade. Movement looks very fluid and dynamic, with the introduction of a jet pack that lets the player more easily navigate a battlefield.
Weapons won’t be class-locked, so you can try any new weapon you pick up and have an interest in, including Krogan Hammers which do a large amount of damage with slow swings, and shivs that let you jump in and out of combat quickly.
Andromeda also introduces Biotic skills, which give your Pathfinder control over gravity. Lots of these biotic skills have a Jedi Force Push vibe, and feature fun things like using enemies as a shield, and throwing them to the ground from far away by increasing their gravity. They’re flashy control skills that have trouble with shielded enemies.
This is only part one of the official gameplay series, so look forward to more Mass Effect: Andromeda info to be dropped in the coming weeks.
