Harmonix will bring Rock Band VR, the virtual reality version of its popular rhythm game series, to the Oculus Rift on March 23. They made the announcement via Twitter, along with a trailer for the upcoming game, which you can check out below.
You’ll need either a PS4 or an Xbox One Rock Band guitar controller in order to play. If you don’t already have one, then you will be able to purchase one with the game in a bundle that is exclusive to Amazon. The bundle will set you back $69.99 USD and comes with your choice of either the PS4 or Xbox One compatible guitar controller. Even though you’ll be playing on PC, the choice still matters, since the PS4 controller will connect via Bluetooth and the Xbox One version will connect via an adapter. So don’t accidentally pick the PS4 version if your PC doesn’t have Bluetooth!
The game not only requires the Oculus Rift headset, but also the Oculus Rift Touch controllers. When playing Rock Band VR, you need to attach an Oculus Touch controller to the headstock of the guitar controller.
In addition to the classic Rock Band game modes, Rock Band VR will also include a Performance Mode. In this mode, players are given a little more freedom of expression, and each performance will always be different.
The Amazon controller bundles are available for pre-order now.
