Halo Wars 2 is just days away from release. Those who have pre-ordered the Ultimate Edition will be able to start their campaign from February 17th, four days ahead of everyone else. In the build up to the launch, Xbox have given us a sneak peek at the game’s atmospheric soundtrack.
Revealed on the Xbox Wire, we can have a first listen to the music that will accompany the RTS game. Composed by Gordy Haab and Finishing Move, the soundtrack “aims to set a new benchmark for the Halo universe and for RTS experiences across all platforms.”
If you want even more, you can find the 20 other released tracks here.
Xbox also held a Q&A session with the composer and his team, which gives us a better insight into the motivation and direction they wanted to take with the music for the title. Haab, with help from Halo Wars 2 Audio Director Paul Lipson, and Finishing Move, which consists of Brian Lee White and Brian Trifon, explains they wanted to pay respect to the Halo musical legacy, but also find a way to match the ebb and flow of the Real Time Strategy genre.
The Official Soundtrack to Halo Wars 2 will be in stores from February 17th, and becomes available for download from February 21st. It comes with an RRP of $17.99.
Halo Wars 2 is shaping up to be an expansive and engrossing title. Gamers recently got a look at Blitz Mode, where card-based strategy is added to the action of the battle, giving a whole new dimension to the game.
