Spaghetti and meatballs. Peanut butter and Jelly. Every so often a match is made in heaven where everything just fits together perfectly and all seems right in the world. For months now, people of all ages have been walking around outside, holding up and staring at their phones trying to catch Pokemon with the Pokemon Go app. While we have not tried it for ourselves yet, so we can’t be sure it is the beautiful collaboration we are hoping for, all signs lead to the belief that Pokemon Go and the Apple Watch are meant to be.
Niantic made the announcement as part of the Apple Keynote that took place yesterday. The Pokemon Go app on the Apple Watch will allow players to do almost everything they want in the game, without having to pull their phones out. “Almost”, is unfortunately a key word as you will have to use your phone to actually catch a Pokemon. Besides that, the Apple Watch will have a number of features at your display.
Using this version of the app, there will be a tracker of distance walked, how many calories you have burned, and your XP, while still showing you nearby Pokemon and PokeStops, the latter of which you can collect items from without the use of your phone.
No word yet on the release Pokemon Go on the Apple Watch, but it is said to be available by the end of the year.
