In less than a day after the release of Mafia III, developer Hangar 13 has issued (and updated) a statement regarding PC players’ complaints about the game’s framerate, stating that a solution is incoming.
Mafia III is currently locked at 30 frames per second on each platform that it is available on — Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. In their statement addressing PC Players, Hangar 13 says, “We know how important having options that best suit your PC’s performance capabilities are” but that the reason for the locked framerate is to make sure that the game’s performance is “consistent across all platforms.”
Shortly after Hangar 13 made their original statement acknowledging the issue, they posted an update stating that a patch is currently in testing that will give PC players the choice of either 30 FPS, 60 FPS, or an unlocked framerate. Assuming everything works as planned, the update will go live this weekend.
Hangar 13 also says, “We’re actively considering a number of additional post-launch improvements on PC that would give players more control over how they can tailor the game’s experience to suit their rig’s performance,” and that the patch being tested now includes “other improvements for the PC version of Mafia III,” so you can expect more than just additional framerate options.
