For the past year or so, fans have been clamoring over every leaked bit of news about the next Red Dead Redemption game. That excitement then hit a fever-pitch once Rockstar starting teasing the game earlier this week. But finally, we now have the first footage of Red Dead Redemption 2.
Coming in at just over a minute, the trailer is certainly on the conservative side, mainly showing the countryside, wild animals, and the simplicity of life on the American West.
Near the end, things become more interesting. Complete with a burning settlement and the already teased seven cowboys, the closing images of the trailer give us the first hints of what we might expect from the game’s story. Notably, the trailer refrains from clearly showing the faces of any of the characters. This could lend itself to the theory that Read Dead Redemption 2 will actually be a prequel to the first game, still following protagonist John Marston.
Fans will mine their way through the trailer for more information in the coming days, and we can expect to hear a lot more from Rockstar in the months ahead. Red Dead Redemption 2 is listed for a fall 2017 release on PS4 and Xbox One. As we learn more, you’ll find it all right here on Gamespresso.
