At the PlayStation Experience we got a nice new trailer for Destiny: Rise of Iron, showing off the holiday patch, called The Dawning. “Celebrate your Light when The Dawning arrives on December 13th. Compete on new tracks with the return of Sparrow Racing League, challenge your skills and set records in the all new Vanguard Elite Strike Scoring, and earn a new arsenal of weapons and gear.”
It seems the Sparrow Racing League is coming back, along with something new called Vanguard Elite Strike Scoring, which will give out new medals. There’s also many new weapons and gear being added with the patch. New racing league tracks are on both Earth and Mercury, and will allow players to get new Sparrow models.
There are at least 2 holiday skins, shown in the trailer. A snow-spider helmet and what looks like a snowglobe helmet are likely to be available as treasures in The Dawning.
Players have already expressed concern over the possibility of the holiday being filled with micro-transactions like the Halloween event, but hopefully Activision and Bungie have learned their lesson, and plan to give players their holiday rewards for in-game heroism. We’ll find out when the patch drops.
The Dawning starts December 13th and ends January 3rd, and will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. The patch requires Destiny: Rise of Iron and The Taken King.
