Styx the goblin usually works alone as he sneaks into strongholds and slits a few throats. However, Styx will gain a blue doppelganger in Styx: Shards of Darkness. Just don’t try to figure out which of them is the evil twin, as that would imply one of them is good.
The trailer shows several tactics that players can only pull off in co-op mode. For example, the host player can drop onto one guard while the guest player, whose character is named Rakash in the trailer (an in-joke for people who are familiar with the lore of the franchise), simultaneously drops onto an adjacent guard. Normally, you can only kill one guard at a time, but with Rakash, players can take out two guards at once. The trailer also demonstrates how you can lure an enemy into a trap set by the other player (complete with Styx uttering Admiral Ackbar’s famous “It’s a trap!” quote).
Shards of Darkness’ co-op mode will provide players various gameplay strategies. Players can either stick together and watch each other’s back or split up to complete more mission objectives in less time.
Styx: Shards of Darkness will release March 14th for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
