There’s been a lot of a buzz surrounding the newly released trailer for Captain America: Civil War, not least of which regarding the absence of our favorite wall-crawler: Spider-Man.
Through a deal cut by Sony and Disney, Spidey is confirmed to appear in the newest film in the Captain America franchise before his own film with Sony which is set to release within 2017. Many were surprised by the announcement and have waited anxiously for any information to surface about the role Spider-Man will serve in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Tom Holland has been cast as the webhead and gives an interview with Superhero Hype, speaking about the role and shining some light on what fans can expect to see in Civil War.

“I think one of the most interesting things about Peter Parker for us is that he’s the only person in the MCU now that has a secret identity, so we all know who everyone else is. I think it’s quite interesting to go back to that hiding behind a mask.” Holland said, referring to the potential impact Spider-Man will have in a universe where many heroes forego secret identities completely.
Readers of the Civil War comic event will remember the integral role that the webhead played after revealing his identity to the public in support of the Superhero Registration Act, only to have it tragically backfire on him. Out of all the players in Civil War, Spider-Man may have the most to lose.
The interview continued onto the topic of coming into such a large world and working with actors that already have a rapport amongst each other. “I guess they’re such easy people,” he said. “They’re lovely people and Robert [Downey Jr.] did my first screen test and he was so welcoming. He took me aside and gave me a little advice about the audition. I’m really excited to get to work and be a part of that universe.”
Holland decided to throw in some info regarding the Spider-Man movie that will come after Captain America: Civil War, namely the location in which it will be shooting. “We’re shooting in Atlanta for most of it, because they have studios there and I think it’s cheaper to build a New York set than it is to shoot here, because it’s going to be very expensive. We will probably end up here in [New York] for one week or two.”
Captain America: Civil War will release on May 6, 2016.
