Many fans were hoping Sony’s PlayStation VR would receive a release date, price or a must-buy game this weekend at PSX, but none of these were revealed during the keynote that was held.
However, according to Sony president of Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida, more will be revealed for PlayStation VR next year, including some of the device’s non-gaming features.
“These things we are not able to show as yet. We are working hard to prepare for the reveal of these features that we haven’t been able to talk about [for] PlayStation VR,” Yoshida said, “as well as of course pricing and release date and what do you get when you buy the system.”
PlayStation VR is set to launch in the first half of 2016. Earlier this year, Sony CEO Andrew House hinted that cost for the new device would be “priced as a new gaming platform,” leaving many to believe the device would cost as much as a new console system at launch.
“What we haven’t been showing is the ‘what else,'” Yoshida added. “Because it’s a new system, people are looking forward to know, other than playing VR games, what they can do with PS VR when they purchase it.”
