With the shear amount there is to do in Fallout 4, the game dominated the fall for many gamers. But Bethesda is only getting started. Posting on the game’s website, the developer detailed the first three pieces of DLC coming to the massive open-world shooter, all included in the game’s season pass.
The first of the list, coming in March, is Automatron. There were plenty of robots in Fallout 4, but Automatron takes that even a step further.
“The mysterious Mechanist has unleashed a horde of evil robots into the Commonwealth, including the devious Robobrain,” Bethesda explains. “Hunt them down and harvest their parts to build and mod your own custom robot companions. Choose from hundreds of mods; mixing limbs, armor, abilities, and weapons like the all-new lightning chain gun. Even customize their paint schemes and choose their voices!” The DLC will release for $9.99.
Next after that is Wasteland Workshop, releasing in April, also for $4.99. If robots aren’t quite your thing, maybe creature fights are.
“With the Wasteland Workshop, design and set cages to capture live creatures – from raiders to Deathclaws! Tame them or have them face off in battle, even against your fellow settlers. The Wasteland Workshop also includes a suite of new design options for your settlements like nixie tube lighting, letter kits, taxidermy and more!”
And finally, the last of the detailed DLC, Far Harbor will land in May. Releasing for $24.99, it is by far the biggest of the three. Not only is it an entirely new area, Far Harbor will feature new higher-level weapons and armor, new factions, new settlements, and new dungeons. Bethesda goes as far as to say it is the “largest landmass for an add-on that we’ve ever created.” Anyone that remembers Shivering Isles for Elder Scrolls IV knows that’s saying something.
“A new case from Valentine’s Detective Agency leads you on a search for a young woman and a secret colony of synths. Travel off the coast of Maine to the mysterious island of Far Harbor, where higher levels of radiation have created a more feral world,” the developer says. “Navigate through the growing conflict between the synths, the Children of Atom, and the local townspeople. Will you work towards bringing peace to Far Harbor, and at what cost?”
tThis is only the beginning for Fallout 4’s DLC though. Bethesda claims they have over $60 worth of content in the pipeline, much more than they originally planned. Currently the season pass is available for $29.99, and that will nab you everything coming out, including the things not yet detailed. But to compensate for the change in plans, Bethesda is raising the price of the season pass to $49.99 starting March 1st. If the first three pieces sound worth it, grab the season pass before it goes up.
For those looking to maybe not spend any money at all, Bethesda also has an option for you. The developer will be running closed betas for each piece of content. Anyone chosen to participate will receive the DLC for free. You can sign up for the closed beta at Bethesda.net.
On top of all of this, the developer promises they are still working on the Creation Kit, a free suite of modding tools for the game. Bethesda also recently announced plans to overhaul Fallout 4’s hardest difficulty, Survival Mode.
