It’s been roughly 5 years since a new Serious Sam game entered the gaming market, that changes with the resurgence of Serious Sam in VR. The newest trailer for the game was released on the Devolver Digital YouTube channel after its announcement earlier at E3.
The Serious Sam franchise is synonymous for its over the top explosions and massive guns. All of which are shown in spades in the trailer. Serious Sam VR: The Last Hope looks to be a shooting gallery-type game rather than a free movement shooter. The player will be anchored to a spot and must mow down countless waves of familiar enemies and creatures from the franchise. The player will have two weapons they can choose from that range from the humble pistol to rocket launchers. All of which have been confirmed to be upgradeable throughout the game.
Currently, it is not known where this particular game takes place in the franchise timeline, or if it is relevant at all. It hasn’t been confirmed to have a coherent story mode, but there are a fair few levels for the players to paint red. This suggests that there is a ‘progression’ at the very least. Serious Sam VR: The Last Hope will be available on the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift sometime in the summer in Early Access.
