Microsoft and The Coalition revealed a new multiplayer map for the upcoming Gears of War 4 at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con.
The new map, entitled “Forge,” takes players to an industrial area falling into ruin. Forge offers players a number of options for both long-ranged and close-quarters combat, and a wide number of great cover opportunities for players in both. You can check out the map in the trailer below.
The Forge map was not the only bit of Gears of War shown in recent times. Nearly seven minutes of gameplay was also released recently, showing series protagonist Marcus Fenix joining his son on the battlefield. The footage shows that Gears of War 4 will retain the series’ classic cover-based action that it is well known for.
It has also been announced that Gears of War 4 will have optional microtransactions. Players will be able to purchase Credits, which can also be earned by playing in Versus Mode. These Credits can be used to purchase Gear Packs, which provide players with randomized Cards that unlock skins and Bounties. These unlockables will not have an impact on Versus Multiplayer, and will be purely cosmetic. Gears Packs will be random, with Individual Cards receiving specific rarity levels.
Gears of War 4 will release on October 11th. The game will be available on the Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs.
